Upcoming Medicare Advantage Information Sessions in the North Country

Coös County, NH- October 30, 2026 – The New Hampshire Insurance Department, a state agency, will hold two informational sessions in the North Country on November 9 to provide unbiased information on the current Medicare Advantage situation for 2027 plans, which have seen extensive changes from previous years. Insurance Commissioner DJ Bettencourt will give an overview of the Medicare Advantage market, provide resources, and answer questions.

The first informational session will be held on November 9 at Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster, NH at 10 a.m. in the Conference Room. The address is 173 Middle Street, Lancaster, NH.

The second, also on November 9, will take place at the Berlin Senior Center in Berlin, NH at 12:45 p.m. The address is 610 Sullivan Street, Berlin, NH.

These informational sessions arose from the news that New Hampshire’s Medicare Advantage market will undergo significant changes in 2027. Several insurance carriers are discontinuing plans, reducing the areas where they offer coverage, or leaving the New Hampshire Medicare Advantage market altogether. These changes will affect thousands of Granite Staters and will vary significantly depending on where a beneficiary lives. Some consumers may find that their current Medicare Advantage plan is no longer available, while others may find that their insurer remains in New Hampshire, but their specific plan, provider network, or coverage options have changed.

On October 22, Governor Ayotte announced that Medicare Advantage plans through Devoted Health will be available in Coös and Carroll counties for 2027 following collaboration with CMS. Medicare Annual Enrollment continues through December 7, 2026. Beneficiaries who wish to consider these newly announced plans are encouraged to seek additional information before making their enrollment selection.

What should I do if I currently have Medicare Advantage?

Do not assume that your current coverage will continue in 2027.

Even if your insurance company remains in New Hampshire, your specific plan or service area may change. Consumers should review all notices they receive from their Medicare Advantage plan and confirm exactly what coverage will be available where they live.

Before selecting coverage for 2027:

  • Check your plan. Confirm that your current Medicare Advantage plan will still be available in your county.
  • Check your doctors and hospitals. Make sure the providers you use will participate in the network of any plan you are considering.
  • Check your prescriptions. Review the plan’s drug formulary, pharmacy network, and prescription costs.
  • Check your authorizations. If you are receiving ongoing care or have services that require prior authorization, understand how changing plans could affect those approvals.
  • Compare all of your options. Do not assume that another Medicare Advantage plan is automatically the best replacement for your current coverage.
  • Ask for help before you change. Medicare coverage decisions can affect access to care and out-of-pocket costs, and individualized assistance is available.

The New Hampshire Insurance Department and North Country Healthcare encourage all utilizers of Medicare Advantage plans to attend one of the informational sessions on November 9 to learn more and determine which plan is right for them.
